Saturday Evening FIDE Blitz
The venue for the
tournament is the Chieftain Hotel, home of Inverness Chess Club. The hotel has given fantastic support to chess in Inverness and the north-east of Scotland for a number of years.
Please note: Food or drink purchased outside must not be consumed on the premises. A special Chess Menu is available to all participants. We receive the facilities on favourable status, please respect this condition, as otherwise the event would not run.

Round 1 - Friday 7.30pm to 10.45pm
Round 2 - Saturday 10.15am to 1.30pm
Round 3 - Saturday 2.30pm to 5.45pm
Round 4 - Sunday 10.15am to 1.30pm
Round 5 - Sunday 2.30pm to 5.45pm
Please note, We work very closely with the hotel and their excellent staff, to facilitate the normal day to day routine of the hotel, while the tournament is being held, round times may vary slightly during the event in order for us to have better playing environment.
Rate of play: Incremental Time Control. All moves in 1 hour with 30 second increments from move 1. There will be no quickplay finishes.
Players without opponents will be repaired after 30 minutes where possible. A ½ point bye may be taken in any round, provided it is done so before the congress starts.
Grand Prix Events
Events will form part of the ChessBase Grand Prix and (where appropriate) the Walter Munn Junior Grand Prix organised by Chess Scotland.
